First of all, in our Gifted program we are studying economics. So when we piled onto the bus we all were taken to Walmart where our Gifted teachers awaited us. First we were lead by a manager inside, shortly after we were discussed to not to touch anything or wander off. We were first led to the pharmacy and learned how they made a profit how they they kept the stock and demand up and how they kept everything in order. Then we went to this room where they kept stuff frozen so they wouldn't be bad when the freezers broke. (The pizza freezer broke there was lots of pizza!) The room was -11 degrees! It was very cold and we even got to go inside. Then they talked about how stuff was shipped and what would happen if they didn't get all the items they wanted. After that we went to the bakery and they gave us free cookies they were so nice! Then we went off to the different types of markets they had such as Meats,Dairy, and Produce. Produce was probably the most difficult job because they had to check if the food was bad or not. Produce is all foods and veggies. Then it was time for the scavenger hunt! We each were split up into teams and given a recipe for a desert. Then we had to find those items and see which brand they were which brand had the most price and the lowest price. After that we went to the checkout isles and got a $1 treat and then we walked back to school and continued on the day!
